Data Description
Justice Organisations and Prisons in England and Wales.
ODS were asked to code Health and Justice healthcare sites in line with the Section 15, 3B subsection 1 Health and Social Care Act 2012. We produce a standard set of unique identification codes for Justice entities including Prisons, Police Stations, Constabularies, Courts, Young Offender Institutions, Secure Training Centres, Secure Children’s Homes, Immigration Removal Centres and Sexual Assault Referral Centres in England and Wales.
How Data is Maintained
ODS obtain Justice Organisation information from published Ministry of Justice and gov.uk data sources. ODS uses these authoritative data sources to check the validity of requests for new health and justice organisation codes. If an entity is not present within these publications, ODS contact the Ministry of Justice directly to check its validity before coding the new entity. Prison data is obtained from/validated by the Prison Health team within the Department of Health and Social Care.
