Organisation Data Service : Social Care Providers and Sites

Data Description

Social Care Provider - the owning organisation of each individual Social Care Site (i.e. care home or domiciliary care site). In the case of single site organisations, where the one location effectively takes on the role of owning organisation or ‘HQ’ and that of an operating site, the entity will have both a social care HQ and site code.

In the case of single site organisations, where the one location effectively takes on the role of owning organisation or ‘HQ’ and that of an operating site, the entity will have both a social care HQ and site code.

How Data is Maintained

ODS obtains Social Care Provider data on a monthly basis from two third-party suppliers. For Welsh data this is CSSIW (Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales) and for English data this is CQC (Care Quality Commission).

Each supplier has responsibility for the statutory inspection of care provided in care homes within their respective geographies. All care homes are required by law to be registered with one of these regulatory bodies. This data is published by ODS to ensure the supply of a reliable dataset to allow social care provider/site identification within systems and services throughout the NHS and those of its stakeholders.

Primary Role / OrgTypeID – RO104

Note that the legacy csv report did not include Social Care Providers who only had Domiciliary Care Sites (RO270). Domiciliary Care site data is available via the ODS API and the ODS Data Search and Export tool (user defined report/search). However, the predefined report for ecarehomehq replicates the legacy product so does not contain providers of domiciliary care only.
